When a solar charge controller is unable to recharge the battery to full capacity in one day, what happens is that the battery cycle continually changes between "partially charged" and "final discharge" states. This mode of operation (without periodic full recharging) will destroy a lead-acid battery in weeks or months.

The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the battery's state of charge and increases slightly, day by day, the level of load shedding until the absorption voltage is reached. From that point on, the load shedding level will be modulated so that the absorption voltage is reached about once a week.

The MPPT 75/15 can also be configured to follow the traditional load control mode, with a fixed dropout voltage.

The output of the load is short-circuit proof and can supply capacitive loads, like an inverter.

  • The Differences of PWM and MPPT Regulators

    What solar controller do I need according to the type of solar panel?

    Normal regulator (PWM): Whether you have 12V solar panels to use in an isolated (or autonomous) 12V solar installation, or if you have 24V solar panels and 72 cells to use in a 24V installation, you must use a normal regulator (PWM type). Which is the most economical and suitable for this type of solar panel.

    Maximizing regulator (MPPT): If you have 24V solar panels and 60 cells (plates with a power greater than 200W), to be used in an isolated 24V solar installation, you must use an MPPT maximizing regulator. Necessary to amplify the voltage of these solar panels, so that when it reaches the batteries it is high and the energy is well stored. The MPPT regulator is more expensive but it is necessary with this type of plates. Which without the use of MPPT, the useful life of the batteries would be damaged since they could not be equalized and they would sulfate in a few months.
